WE STOLE THE FIRE

In 2018, Think Tank Gallery and Mezcal El Silencio brought We Stole the Fire. The monthlong arts experience took place around the Melrose neighborhood, well-known to international shopping and graffiti enthusiasts alike. Part of the activation was a functioning Molotov Cocktail Vending Machine on Melrose Ave. where tourists could purchase Molotov art objects.

Think Tank Gallery collaborated with creative director Phil America and a handful of local artists and collaborators from Mexico to produce a month of street stunts, graffiti, performance artworks and installations, analog documentation, limited edition merchandise campaign, and a group art show to wrap it all up. Each contribution to this month of creation stole the fire of a different legend, art movement, or advertising campaign that came before it. See the full curatorial statement here.
