SHOOT A COP
SHOOT A COP
In 2013, Think Tank Gallery hosted its second collaboration with Leica Cameras and Eric Kim Photography in the YOU ARE HERE. series. YOU ARE HERE. II: Shoot a Cop tasked streettogs with following the stigmatized Los Angeles Police Department for a solid month, then presenting what they found in a photo show curated by YOU ARE HERE. I winners Jordan Dunn and Rinzi Ruiz.
Many photographers dropped out due to fear of or disdain for the LAPD, and tragedy struck on Day 15 of 30, when a rogue police officer began murdering his comrades in Los Angeles. Bad press flooded the show, demanding a name change, but the show remained as titled and the 12 remaining photographers saw our largest crowd yet at their opening. The exhibit included a largescale pistol and smartphone installation by Brandon Monk Muñoz and a performance artwork featuring SFX-makeup-designed waitresses serving coffee and donuts in “pig” costumes. An art book of the same name was produced from the exhibit.
