Nothing Cheezy Deck

THINK TANK GALLERY & PRODUCTIONS INVITES YOU TO JOIN US IN PRESENTING

THE CHEESIEST TICKETED ATTRACTION IN LOS ANGELES, SUMMER 2019

Whatever way you slice it, the ticketed, pop-up, experiential environment is an international phenomenon and a mouthful of industry buzzwords that has no bigger audience worldwide than it does in Los Angeles. Before the tidal wave of food-themed selfie tours hit LA, Think Tank Gallery was producing such immersive attractions with artists from around the world, including the breakout Break Bread, a cake-themed experience that saw over 33,000 guests and sold out 96.5% of its tickets. Many sold out, ticketed pop-ups shortly followed in local markets (the most notorious using Think Tank talent), and a new and lucrative industry was born, largely originating in DTLA.

This SUMMER, join us in inviting the HYPE MACHINE AT Pizzaboyzzz as they present the HYPHIEST Pizza-Themed Instagram Palace in history.

THE SELF-AWARE SELFIE TOUR IS OPENING TO THE PUBLIC
JULY 20 and RUNNING THROUGHOUT AUGUST 2019.

Running 3-5 weeks in July 2019 with daily tickets available for all ages, weekly merch drops and pizza slice specials, and a variety of programming, Nothing Cheezy is a self-aware, substantive departure from the food-themed pop-up scene, featuring grimey art installations, rotating nostalgic art exhibits, a 90s pizza shop featuring Pizzaboyzzz merchandise, and delicious food.

Presented in the context of an art show with 1.) a self-guided selfie tour, 2.) limited edition merch shop, and 3.) weekly spotlight on LA’s best pizza shops – all featuring some world-renown talent – Nothing Cheezy gives LA some lighthearted introspection in a sphere of saturation, and saturated fats. And the whole thing feels like you ripped it out of a 1995 pizza commercial.

INSPIRATION FOR NOTHING CHEEZY VIDEO CAMPAIGN

Pizza and nostalgia is always a good combination. Some will call it the Museum of Pizzaboyzzz, or The Pizzaboyzzz Experience, or any other reference to another food-themed pop-up that has already happened in LA – indeed, many of these pop-ups reached out to Pizzaboyzzz for consulting or utilized Think Tank talent – but one thing that’s unmistakable is that the streetwear brand and art collective at Pizzaboyzzz uniquely and cleverly walks the line between cheesy jokes and hugely hyped artists. Their numbers say it all (see below), and their long line of instantly sold out merch drops prove that their fan base is rabid. Combine that with Think Tank Gallery’s 2,000+ attendees at every opening night for the last half-decade and you’re sure to make a splash.

The Nothing Cheezy title and presentation is a tongue-in-cheek play on words that won’t be missed by your audience or ours.

ThINK TANK’s tradition of sharply clever brand collaborations also continues with Nothing Cheezy, INVITING NATIONAL COMPANIES, LOCAL event producers, and talent agencies to GET CHEESY WITH US.

There are a variety of ways to be involved, from sponsoring one of the 8-9 art installations by local street artists and designers with product integration, to co-producing one of the dozens of events, to hosting your own pizza party programming, or collaborating on a merch drop through Pizzaboyzzz’ blockbuster sales channels; we invite you to explore this deck and get a feel for the project.

90s style video campaigns

An important part of the Nothing Cheezy experience is the 1990s style of the online content, tickets, and installations. We think of our promo content the same way as the art pieces we put on the walls, and this show will be no different. Our video and editing team shoot all of our content on a turn of the century VX2000 camcorder which we mount to a Ronin rig. The VX2000 is a Mini DV camera that brings every skater back to a memory that’s tinted green with envy, but putting it on the most cutting-edge stabilizing technology creates a look that few have ever seen before.

For an example of the retro-contemporary feel of the videos you can expect for Nothing Cheezy,

PUBLICIST & PR STRATEGIST

Heidi Johnson of Hijinx PR has created some monstrous PR campaigns in Los Angeles. Blowing up the LA Art Show’s press hits to massive numbers, successfully bringing DesignerCon to the historic Anaheim Convention Center with the boost in views required to pull that off, and creating some insanely viral campaigns for Think Tank’s prior shows (including the hundreds of millions of views that made our cake-themed show a breakout hit), Hijinx knows how to find what’s compelling about a show. Heidi’s ability to spin gold on particular PR targets also makes her the ideal strategist for such a unique project as Nothing Cheezy. See her website for more.

Most recently Heidi has worked as the publicist for the LA Art Show, DesignerCon, and Corey Helford Gallery while additionally helping to coordinate and promote exhibitions with Night Gallery, Gregorio Escalante Gallery, the Lancaster MOAH, Paul Kopeikin Gallery, and many more. She has worked with artists and gallerists that include Scott Hove, Dosshaus, RISK, Robbie Conal, Hueman, Blake Little, Jim Mahfood, and Harmonia Rosales. Hijinx continues to work with brands such as Nike, Converse, American Express, and NYX Cosmetics while maintaining relationships with LA Magazine, LA Weekly, Juxtapoz, Hi Fructose, KCRW, CNN, KCET, The LA Times, the Huffington Post, and more.

THE WORLD HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAME SINCE IT MET THE
ECLECTIC ART COLLECTIVE THAT IS
MEOW WOLF.

Don’t just listen to us, let the New York Times or countless other media outlets attempt to describe the magic that is this industry-shifting titan. They’ve supported Think Tank for years now, and we’re happy to bring them to LA for our deepest collab with them yet.

Meow Wolf’s Future Fantasy Delight will be co-producing an art installation and exclusive merch with Utopia US for Nothing Cheezy.

While the merchandise drops, rotating pizza art exhibits, nightly programming, and limited-time-only slices of pizza will be exciting and full of collaboration opportunities, the biggest draw of Nothing Cheezy is the walking tour of our sometimes satirical, sometimes street, food-themed environment. Unlike many other pop-ups, Nothing Cheezy features installations by artists with large followings in streetwear and street art scenes, and focuses heavily on those artists. In fact, many guests will come to this experience thinking of it as a fine art exhibit more than anything else, which is the rabbit-in-the-hat trick that has become Think Tank Gallery’s signature move for its hybrid art shows and immersive theatre events of the last decade.

These 11 total environmental design pieces will be created by and split evenly between Meow Wolf, Think Tank, and Bloody Gums artists. They include Godzilla-scale pizza cities, evil pepperoni monsters, anime-obsessed and interactive 90s teenage boys rooms, and many other features that were the cheesiest things we could conjure.

Upon purchasing a slice of pizza or two, guests will go through the kitchen doors to the back of house, and see how the sausage, pepperoni and mushroom gets made.
See who’s making it with us below.

The thing that sets Think Tank Gallery & Showroom apart from commercial gallery spaces more than any other is its integration of dance parties, supper clubs, comedy shows and more into the artistic expression of its exhibits. Refusing to host a large opening party and then let gallery hours sit empty for a couple weeks until its closing, the Think Tank taps local and international event producers during the planning stages of a show to pack the house – or present intimate, VIP experiences – on a nightly basis.

Nothing Cheezy will be no different. In addition to the daily ticketed experience and rotating artwork and pizza specials, Pizzaboyzz and crew will collaborate with various brands to bring cooking classes, cannabis samplings, beat producer competitions and more to the show, even collaborating with neighboring venues for larger crowds.

Scroll down to see examples from prior shows, and ask us how to include your own special ingredients into the Nothing Cheezy recipe of events.

WEEKLY ART SHOW AND MERCHANDISE DROP

In the tradition of Bloody Gums’ hit and run style, Nothing Cheezy will also feature a rotating gallery of pizza art and custom clothing in the front showroom, a mock pizza shop with tiled, framed artworks on the wall. To coincide with a merch drop every weekend, dozens of art pieces will be swapped out, adding huge fan bases from dozens of artists who ride with Think Tank and Pizzaboyzz.

516_Show_NothingCheezy_Deck_Tickets90S.png

For the first time ever, Think Tank Gallery & Showroom is presenting a weeks-long ticketed attraction, instead of a free art experience with ticketed event add-ons. There will be free and “pay what you can” days for our younger, artist family, but we’re also ensuring that the ticket options come loaded with way more value than their dollar amounts. Pizzaboyzzz and Bloody Gums are throwing in a ton of merchandise to bulk up these packages, and we’re seeking bigtime brand sponsorships to fill our daily gift bags, single day ticket exclusives, and pizza + beer or cannabis offerings. And of course we’re decking these things out like a classic combo pack from your favorite pizza joint.

Pizza coupon packs are probably the favorite spam mail memories in the history of the universe, and we’re modeling our ticket packs after that nostalgia.
Ask us how to join our Supreme Combo or Family Pack Combo packages, or make your own pizza ticket combo pack.

GET PIZZA OR DIE TRYING! Starting with a squad of friends, artists, and creatives who have been doing this together for years, Pizzaboyzzz was created with a simple concept in mind – limited edition drops with pizza-themed art. The founder of the collective grew up working in his family’s pizza shop, and is taking that background worldwide. Running in Los Angeles and spreading internationally, they create custom pieces, collectibles, and artist collaborations of all kinds. Most of all, these guys build hype.

Everything they create is of limited issue.

516_Show_NothingCheezy_Deck_About_BG.gif

Bloody Gums Collective has thrown some bangers with a variety of arts organizations in Los Angeles, including Think Tank Productions, Beat Cinema, Superchief Gallery, Delicious Vinyl, DesignerCon, and PBR Art. Their ongoing collaboration with Pizzaboyzz one of LA’s most prolific and genuine collaborations around.
